Jurassic Park: The Ride Is Ready To Evolve

After 22 years, the original Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios Hollywood is going extinct, but as the theme park marketing cleverly states “Life finds a way.”

After the closure, Universal will immediately begin construction on the brand new Jurassic World Ride. This new offering promises to include brand-new technologically-advanced elements and never-before-seen dinosaurs, as well as a fully redesigned appearance and a storyline that matches the ever-evolving  Jurassic Park franchise. I expect there will still be nods to the original peppered throughout, and, of course, I hope to see an appearance by Ian Malcolm seeing as how his character carried over into Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

In addition to Jeff Goldblum’s Malcolm, I won’t be surprised to see Chris Pratt’s dreamy face (or at least voice) showing up as Owen Grady in the new incarnation. If this is the case, Pratt will join the ranks of theme park icons. His likeness is already being used as Marvel’s Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney’s California Adventure. The Quill character will more than likely also appear in the Guardians ride premiering at Walt Disney World’s Epcot in 2021.

You have until September 3rd, 2018 to get to Los Angeles if you want one more 85-foot dropping thrill on the original Jurassic Park ride. We shouldn’t have too long to wait to experience theme park dinos again, however. The Jurassic World Ride is set to open in 2019. Check out the official video promo from Universal below.

Also, don’t forget to grab your tickets to see the original 1993 Jurassic Park when it roars back into theaters for a limited 3-day engagement next month.

I loved that ride, but it’s definitely showing it’s age. I hope that whatever they do for “Jurassic World” is equally cool.
